[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 400887] [NEW] Screen is blank after logging in with dual monitors

2009-07-17 Thread Craig Estep
Public bug reported:

display and the external display are blank. If I press fn+f5, both
displays start working.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 389519] Re: Cursor can move off-screen when dual-monitors do not form rectangular area

2009-07-12 Thread Craig Estep
I'm from the second camp too! It is quite annoying to me when my cursor
gets lost off-screen. However, as it currently stands, the cursor CAN
move "in and out of the area not covered by either monitor". I'm sorry
if I wasn't clear, and I apologize for implying that this was introduced
in karmic. I am still learning.

Are you saying that the expected behavior is that the cursor IS kept
inside of both screens? If so, I think my bug is valid. Please correct
me if I am wrong. Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 398278] [NEW] After ctrl-alt-f1 then ctrl-alt-f7 virtual console remains on inactive display

2009-07-11 Thread Craig Estep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I am using a laptop hooked to an external monitor. The laptop display is
"off" in display preferences, and is off when logging in. However, when
I switch to a virtual console (ctrl-alt-f1) both displays are used. Then
I switch back (ctrl-alt-f7) and a static image of the virtual console is
left on the laptop display. Also, current cursor image is shown on the
laptop monitor, but does not move around. If I switch back using ctrl-
alt-f1, both displays are again used for the virtual console.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 396546] [NEW] Ctrl-Alt-F1 does not drop to a console

2009-07-07 Thread Craig Estep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Note: this works using the 2.6.31-1 kernel on the same computer.

Using an up-to-date karmic, when using the key combination Ctrl-Alt-F1,
I do not get a console. Instead, the screen freezes and I get the weird
color corruption on the background, as seen in the screenshot. Pressing
Ctrl-Alt-F7 brings back the desktop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 394694] [NEW] [karmic] regions of desktop using dual monitors are displayed incorrectly

2009-07-02 Thread Craig Estep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release:9.10

apt-cache policy xorg
xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.4~5ubuntu21

lspci -nn | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960
Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a02] (rev 0c)

Description:

NOTE: This bug only occurs when compiz is enabled.

To create this bug, I switch my monitors (1280x800 and 1680x1050) to
mirrored 1024x768 in order to start compiz. (If I attempt to start
compiz while running both monitors at their native resolution, it says
"Desktop effects could not be enabled". I turn on desktop effects, then
switch the monitors to their optimal resolutions. After I do that, a
region of the screen on the right side is not drawn correctly, as you
can see in the screenshot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 394090] Re: [karmic] login screen uses wrong resolution on both monitors

2009-07-01 Thread Craig Estep
@Montel

Oops, here you go:

lspci -nn | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960
Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a02] (rev 0c)

Maximum resolution is not a problem, because I can display on both
monitors when logged in.

@Sebastien

Sorry, I did not realize. I have attached /var/log/Xorg.0.log

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 389519] [NEW] [karmic] Cursor can move off-screen when dual-monitors do not form rectangular area

2009-06-19 Thread Craig Estep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release:9.10

xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.4~5ubuntu21
  Candidate: 1:7.4~5ubuntu21
  Version table:
 *** 1:7.4~5ubuntu21 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Basically, when I use two monitors with different sizes (1280x800 and
1680x1050), X creates a rectangular bounding box for the cursor, so in
effect it can move offscreen. I assumed that it would stop the cursor
from leaving any part of either monitor unless it was moving to the
other display.
