I'm seeing a similar issue after upgrading from mythbuntu 12.04 to
14.04. Only I'm using integrated graphics from intel sandybridge.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 597895] Re: X crashes on key press

2010-12-02 Thread Jack Deslippe
I have a similar problem with the d-link boxee remote when I try to use
Boxee full screen. Whenever I press a button on the remote, X segfaults
and dies.

This is in Ubuntu 10.10 (32 bit). I get a backtrace very similar to the
one reported in the first post. Did anyone find a solution to this?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 450493] Re: xorg: failed to load module "nvidia"

2009-10-13 Thread Jack Deslippe
the ko should be built by jockey or at boot by dkms, but I guess it is
failing. I have filed a bug in jockey about the failure here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/jockey/+bug/450770 - but it may be a more
general compilation problem and jockey is just a victim. The jockey.log
I show above may explain why it is failing though:

Also, I am still on kernel 2.6.31-11 so I don't think it is a -13 issue.
Something else must have broken the nvidia driver.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 450493] Re: xorg: failed to load module "nvidia"

2009-10-13 Thread Jack Deslippe
I have the exact same problem on two machines I tried to load Karmic on
today. After "installing" the 185 drivers in the hardware-drivers
utility, I reboot into a blank screen. XOrg.0.log says:

(EE) NVIDIA: Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module. Please check your
(EE) NVIDIA: system's kernel log for additional error messages.
(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module "nvidia" (module-specific error, 0)
(EE) No drivers available.

The 173 drivers do infact work fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 449202] Re: Blank screen on bootup, karmic, nvidia card

2009-10-13 Thread Jack Deslippe
I have the same problem after install the 185 drivers in an up to date
Karmic - boots into black screen. I am pretty sure this bug is back -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-180/+bug/429003 - or something like it has been born.

I have nvidia 9400 and 8400 and both machines are screwed. If I install
173 nvidia driver it seems to work, though.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 429003] Re: [karmic] Xorg (and anything GLX) crashes on startup

2009-10-13 Thread Jack Deslippe
I am pretty sure this bug (or something related) has been reborn in
recent days. I have a up to date Karmic computer and after "installing"
the 185 driver in "hardware drivers" the system boots to a black screen.
I.e. X doesn't start. This both with a 8400 card and 9400 card.
