[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 652198] [NEW] "Dead space" in multiple monitor configs are accessible by mouse
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I have a dual-monitor setup with the following resolutions: 1: 1920x1080 (left) 2: 1600x900 (right) Therefore, there are 180 pixels of so called "dead space" underneath the second (right-hand) monitor, which is explicitly not viewable due to physical constraints. The expected behaviour is dealing with this dead space is to not let the mouse enter at all, meaning icons/windows/etc will not become "trapped" inside. However, ubuntu will let the mouse wander into the dead zone, which, to the unknowing, is quite jarring, as the mouse will have literally "disappeared". Hey Geir, Holding down shift got the grub menu to show up. Anyways - recovery mode does not work - the 2.6.32-15 kernel (recovery) has the same problem. Selecting the older kernel (2.6.31-20) gave some cryptic error about not finding a device, but when I pressed the power button, it booted into Lucid. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I wish I could give a better description, but that's literally what it is. Before you mark this as a duplicate of bug 511001, please note that I don't get a mouse pointer. I don't even get to log in, nor do I see the gdm splash screen. The console outputs the hard drive check, blanks, and that's the last thing the laptop does, since it just sits there, blank, humming quietly afterward. I've attached a xorg.log of the boot process. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 402777] [NEW] Monitor turns off on incorrect events
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I'm not quite aware of which package this should be reported against, so I am reporting it again xorg in the hopes that someone will come along and re-assign it properly. Thanks! Ever since upgrading to Karmic, I've been having sporadic problems with my monitor turning off at inappropriate times. Test case: Switching to a tty session, and then switching back to tty7. Immediately after, the monitor will blank. Moving the mouse will wake up the monitor again. This is reproducible for me, every time. I've also experienced it once or twice when I've accidentally let my laptop power cord unplug. The switch from AC to battery power seems to have triggered an event, and the monitor turned off. The following events occur in my system log whenever the monitor turns off: Jul 21 19:13:55 julian-4 acpid: client 3279[0:0] has disconnected Jul 21 19:13:55 julian-4 acpid: client connected from 3279[0:0] ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Jul 21 19:09:56 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 355761] Re: [i855] [Intel 82852/855GM] xrandr does not output correctly to VGA output
Problem got marginally better when using kernel 2.6.30-020630-generic. However, outputting to VGA output is still unbearable with compiz on. Xrandr works perfectly when compiz is off. Any hope for Karmic? -- [i855] [Intel 82852/855GM] xrandr does not output correctly to VGA output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355761 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 355761] Re: [i855] [Intel 82852/855GM] xrandr does not output correctly to VGA output
Doesn't seem as though the problem has been solved in more recent kernel release candidates (2.6.30-020630rc5-generic), although, of course, that could be because it's not a kernel problem in the first place.
