[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1450581] [NEW] Hardware accel causes X segfault with SNA renderer

2015-04-30 Thread Daniel Lynn
Public bug reported:

Release: Ubuntu 15.04 (vivid)
Package Version: 2:2.99.917-1~exp1ubuntu2build1

I'm experiencing a consistently reproducable segfault when attempting to
use hardware acceleration. I've installed xserver-xorg-core-dbg and
xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg and attached the gdb log file.
Additionally, here is the backtrace from the X log:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1363198] [NEW] Crashing while using certain graphics tools

2014-08-29 Thread Michael Lynn Huff
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to design a website using gimp. I have updated Ubuntu to its
latest version today, as well as Gimp (12.8.14). Whenever I try to use
the rectangle tool, Gimp will crash when trying to enter the dimensions
in the size dialogue. I tried to check the Gimp Error Console but it
wasn't showing anything. So I decided to check the error log in Xorg. I
found several errors where it wasn't locating a certain graphics
library. I have the most recent drivers for my graphics chipset, so I'm
stumped.

The Xorg error console also crashed at first and I had to wait until all
messages between it and the OS were sent and received before I was able
to get it to generate an error report to file with you.

I'm not sure what's going on. I never had any problems with Gimp in
relation to Xorg until today. Incidentally, the same problems were
happening before I updated Ubuntu and Gimp from 12.8.10 today. So the
updates did nothing to fix it.

Thanks and let me know if you require any more information.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1321351] Re: Mouse randomly starts moving and clicking

2014-06-30 Thread Elijah Lynn
Hi Chris,

I cannot confirm it happens on Windows but the reports here are all
Windows based => https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops
/Phantom-touches-on-W510/td-p/288682

It is the same exact phenomenon that is happening on Ubuntu 13.04. I am
upgrading to 14.04 this weekend so maybe that will help. I will post
back if it does.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 749567] Re: Mouse cursor jumps and clicks randomly

Thanks Chris,

Here is my report with the info attached =>
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-
evdev/+bug/1321351

But note that I marked it as incomplete because I don't think anything
can be done about it on a software level.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 749567] Re: Mouse cursor jumps and clicks randomly

2014-06-24 Thread Elijah Lynn
I am having this same issue with my Thinkpad W510 Touchscreen (Wacom).
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-
evdev/+bug/1321351

If you google for HP TouchSmart Phantom Touches then you will get
reports of others having this issue. This being said I don't think it is
software related.

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/HP-Envy-
Touchsmart-15-Ghost-touch/td-p/2870001

A temp fix to see if it is your touchscreen is next time it happens,
open a console and type "xinput list" to get a list of devices, then
grab the numeric ID, say 15 for instance. Then run "xinput disable 15".
Your issues should immediately stop. It sucks, I know.

Appears to be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source

I was going to attach on to that bug but the apport-collect dialog said
it was better to create a new one and mark as duplicate.

I am running a Thinkpad W510 touchscreen with the touchpad disabled. I
have it docked and the lid is closed but it happens with lid open too.

Not sure what is causing this but it eventually goes away or I restart.

It almost feels as if someone has remote control access to my computer.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1321351] Re: Mouse randomly starts moving and clicking

2014-06-24 Thread Elijah Lynn
I will add that the only way I have found to cure the issue is to run

xinput to get a list of devices, in my case the Wacom touch input is 15.

Then:

xinput disable 15

And no more touchscreen but at least I can use the computer :/

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1321351] [NEW] Mouse randomly starts moving and clicking

2014-05-20 Thread Elijah Lynn
Public bug reported:

Appears to be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/749567.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1295689] Re: Mouse randomly moves and clicks stuff

2014-03-25 Thread Elijah Lynn
** Description changed:

More and more in the past month or so I have been experiencing what
appears to be a random takeover of my computer. The mouse just starts
randomly moving around the screen in a spastic kind of way and then
  starts clicking stuff.

This is on a Thinkpad W510 Touchscreen and happens when no external
input devices are connected and also with external wired input devices
  as well.

Not sure how to even start debugging this. I have a fair amount of
command line experience and can help with a significant amount of the
debugging if I can get a little bit of guidance.

Unfortunately, I do not know how to consistantly reproduce this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1070214] [NEW] misc:typo rules doesn't apply on X startup

2012-10-23 Thread Alexey Ten (Lynn)
Public bug reported:

I have following settings in /etc/default/console-setup
XKBMODEL="pc104"
XKBLAYOUT="us,ru"
XKBVARIANT=","
XKBOPTIONS="grp:caps_toggle,lv3:ralt_switch,misc:typo,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"

Logging into text console and starting xinit -- :1 doesn't apply rules
for misc:typo option, so I have to run setxkbmap.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1003128] Re: Brightness controls not working on Thinkpad W510

2012-06-09 Thread Elijah Lynn
Ryan,

You are brilliant! Worked like a charm, may I also ask what "Option
"NoLogo" "True"" is? Does that get rid of the Nvidia logo maybe on boot?

Thanks again,

Elijah Lynn

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1003128] [NEW] Brightness controls not working on Thinkpad W510

2012-05-22 Thread Elijah Lynn
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W510 and the hardware brightness keys activate
the brightness slider but the screen does not respond. Neither does the
brightness slider in the system settings. It does appear that if I set
the slider and then restart the system then the display corresponds to
the location of the slider just before restart.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 972055] [NEW] Screen brightness stuck at minimum

2012-04-02 Thread Elijah Lynn
Public bug reported:

The screen brightness was working great all day today after a fresh
install. I used the hardware buttons and even went through the system
testing. I just went to brightness and lock settings about an hour or so
ago and set it to dim screen to save power, turned off the lock and
unchecked require password. The slider was at maximum.

I came back now and the screen is stuck in dim mode and won't come back
to full brightness or respond to slider adjustments or hardward keys,
even if I uncheck dim screen. I am going to restart now and suspect that
may resolve issue but wanted to submit this info while it was fresh.
