[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 342475] Re: evolution hangs, window garbled, nvidia settings changed

2010-02-24 Thread Saïvann Carignan
Thanks for your answer.

In your bug report, you report two different issue. One in nvidia-
settings and one in evolution. In order to work on these issues, it is
necessary to report one bug at the time, therefore it might be necessary
to open a new bug report.

Nvidia : Gnome actually have no interaction with the nvidia driver and
the configuration files. However, if you both use nvidia-settings and
gnome-display-property to set parameters, it should be expected that
nvidia-settings lose its configuration because nvidia does not follow
all standards that opensource drivers does, and nvidia has its own
extensions. You should choose what tool you want to use (even if it is
more complex, preferably the nvidia-settings one in this case). If I
remember correctly, if you want the parameters to be applied
permanently, you need to launchpad nvidia-config as root, and click the
"Save configuration" button, otherwise it only applies to the current
session and all parameters are dropped at first log off.

Evolution : It seems that you really hit a crashing bug in evolution. If
you want to upgrade to ubuntu 9.10 and that you can still reproduce this
bug, I invite you to report a new bug report including detailed steps to
explain how to reproduce the problem. In order to report the bug, please
type this in a terminal, or in the little box that appears when you
press ALT + F2 : ubuntu-bug evolution . This will open Firefox in a new
bug report with many useful (if not absolutely necessary) informations
that will greatly help developers to understand the issue.

Since this bug description mixed two incomplete bugs, I'm closing it so
you can verify them and report them at need.

Thanks for your participation!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 363533] Re: ATI Radeon HD 3670 Proprietary FGLRX Drivers break Suspend, Hibernate and major performance issues.

2009-09-05 Thread Saïvann Carignan
In my case, installing fglrx 9.8 from the amd website (after
uninstalling ubuntu fglrx driver in restricted driver manager) did the
trick. Xorg no longer freeze when playing a video and it correctly
resume from suspend. So this might be fixed in karmic or next release,
once ubuntu will add latest fglrx in repositories.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 338645] Re: linux freezes completely since 2.6.28-7

2009-05-30 Thread Saïvann Carignan
That really looks like a duplicate of 330824. Martin has a ext4
filesystem, freeze happens randomly and 2.6.29 kernel fixes the issue
(in the same way then 2.6.30 does not have this bug in karmic).

Martin : it would be interesting if you can delete huge amount of files
and report if the bug can be reproduced while deleting files. If the bug
can be reproduced in that way, can you verify if 2.6.29 or 2.6.30
fixes the bug for you too? Most of time, this was the easiest way to
reproduce the bug which does not seem to happen on any hardware.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 367136] Re: xset -r causes loss of control of keyboard

2009-05-11 Thread Saïvann Carignan
I built 1.3.0 , 1.6.0 and 1.6.1 xserver-xorg-core on intrepid and I was never
able to reproduce the bug.
I built the same 1.6.0 xserver-xorg-core on jaunty and I was still able to
reproduce the bug.

That seems to demonstrate that xserver-xorg-core is not the faulty
package either. Any other idea about what package could be the cause?

I'm pretty interested to help identifying the source of the problem. I
verified and the problem does not seem to belong to xserver-xorg-input-
evdev as downgrading that package to the one in intrepid is not enough
to make the bug disappear. Does anyone has a idea in which project this
bug can belong to? xserver-xorg-core itself?
