Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezeslave problems
79 doesn't seem that much different from 78. I still get the disconnect problem regularly when fooling around with other sound apps. Again I'm not sure how much of this is squeezeslave's or portaudio's or pulseaudio's problem. But I did see in a post on portaudio's forum last april that problem's with audacity (which also uses portaudio and pulseaudio's virtual alsa devices) may lead to native support of pulseaudio. Or maybe that developer has become over-whelmed with other issues ... At least I did notice that the pulseaudio volume control (pavucontrol) doesn't cause any problems (but the gnome panel volume applet does). So that makes life a bit easier. By the way, I had to modify the make files to use gcc-4.2 and g++-4.2 instead of just gcc and g++ as on my system these point to V4.3 which has removed some of the options used in compilation, such as force-mem. Thanks again for all your work on this. -- blazerte blazerte's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5090 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57746 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] spawned mplayer process running as root
The root issue doesn't happen with Ubuntu or SuSe installations so I think it may be specific to your system, your distribution or how mplayer has been installed. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65938 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] spawned mplayer process running as root
Hi, As per the normal install I'm running squeezecenter as a non-root uid. However, I notice that spawned mplayer processes (eg. via the Alien plugin) are running as root (and my firewall setup will block them). It seems that when slimserver starts it changes just the *effective* uid not real uid. Does anyone know of a specific reason it the real uid is not changed? Alternatively, is there some way to configure squeezecenter/alien to launch mplayer with the same effective uid as the parent process? rgds, g. -- slackgraham slackgraham's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24814 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65938 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Squeezeslave problems
I've pushed r79 to googlecode. The following commands should build a binary for you, provided you have all the required commands and development libraries installed. If the build fails, replace the file makefile.linux26-alsa-display with makefile.linux26-alsa and run both make commands again. Code: svn checkout http://squeezeslave.googlecode.com/svn/squeezeslave/trunk/squeezeslave cd squeezeslave make -f makefile.linux26-alsa-display realclean make -f makefile.linux26-alsa-display -- ralphy ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57746 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] Archlinux users
To all Archlinux installees. I've just uploaded the 7.3.3-27044 version to the AUR. I had this version running for some time without problems. Tell me what you think. Btw it is not really done the "ArchLinux-way" but more the "Slimdevices-way" meaning the the package will include a local perl and mysql. -- th00ht SqueezeBox v3 SqueezeCenter7.3.2 / Archlinux Quad 303 + Two Quad Electrostats 'last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/th00ht) th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65931 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
