Position: Data Solutions Architect Location: Herndon, VA Duration: 6+Months * * * * * * *Job Description* Background in development, solutions architecture, building strategy/roadmaps. Need a mix of skill sets: Solutions Architect and Data Architect experience; design/architect a large complex solution. *Environment: * Java based technologies, web services, Oracle, SOA a plus The objective of this initiative is to continue the ARB governing processes and provide a vital role in steering projects towards their target state architecture. The contractor will be working on reviewing various applications/systems as part of the Architecture Review Board (ARB). Some team members will be handling the front-end process and coordinate with all the projects teams and schedule their gate reviews. Other team members are the technical architects who would review each request from the technology and architecture aspects of the projects and compare them with the target state roadmaps of different segments and provide guidance to the project teams. *Must have’s:* 1. Experience in reviewing application architecture and design across a broad set of technologies related to J2EE, .net, Web Services, SOA, Database, Reporting and Business Intelligence 2. Experience in Enterprise Architecture Governance 3. Excellent communication skills 4. Well organized 5. Fast learners (transition from current resources must occur quickly ) 6. Logical in explaining the review processes and gaining the trust of the requestor 7. Experience in developing Solution architecture is a must 8. Experience with any architecture tools and experience with building roadmaps *Preferred skills, but not required:* 1. TOGAF certification (preferred) 2. Experience with CMM/Six Sigma/Process improvements 3. Having a development background 4. Enterprise architecture 5. Prior member of architecture review boards *Rank the importance of the skills:* 1. Communication skills to explain governance process and deal with conflict 2. Hands-On experience in developing practical architecture 3. Enterprise Architecture Governance 4. Experience in J2EE, Unix based web applications 5.
