RE: How do I delete an app from the App Library using Edit Mode?

2023-06-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No, I had missed that part and it is still not possible in iOS 16.6 public
beta. But again, bringing up this alphabetical list is more a result of
activating the search field/function, it would maybe be different if Apple gave
you a button at the top where you could choose whether to display the list
alphabetically, by install date, by app type etc.

Hi Sieghard,

How did you locate the app to be deleted from within the App library? Did you
first go to the alphabetized listing? It is when I'm in this listing that
access to the edit mode controls are missing.

Maybe this has been fixed in iOS 16.6 assuming you are using the iOS 16.6

Subject: How do I delete an app from the App Library using Edit Mode?

Hi List,

I’m attempting to delete some apps never used from the growing list on my
iPhone 13 Mini running iOS 16.5. I keep the apps I use often on multiple home
screens but the ones seldom used are only located in the App Library listing
found after the home screens. I like to place the App Library in an
alphabetized listing in order to find the ones to delete as opposed to using
Apple’s category listings. However, I am unable to enter Edit mode when using
the alphabetize listing and can only invoke drag requiring me to first drag the
app to be removed to a home screen where I can then invoke Edit mode and delete
it. This seems to be a major design flaw so I’m wondering if I’m missing a
better way to delete an app located only in the App Library.

Many thanks if others can confirm what I’m experiencing and offer a quicker way
to delete an app shown only in the App Library.

OK, I get it now, sorry, I overlooked the extra step about bringing up the
search index which is in alphabetical order.
The question here is whether a sighted person can delete an app from this view
or not, maybe you are not meant to be able to do this.

As Alan and I have said, this works fine in the App Library unless you
alphabetize the list first, which you can do with a three finger swipe down.
After you do a three finger swipe down to alphabetize the list of apps, you
won’t be able to delete an app.

OK, I pulled up Speech Central for the first time in three months, because I found it not very useful for me. When the app is not playing anything, it is impossible to adjust the speaking rate, you have to have it playing in order for the adjustable value actually adjust. That Audio settings button in Voice Dream is not meant just for displaying the speed as you have quoted, but rather for adjusting the speed by VoiceOver swipe up and down gestures. As such your reflection makes more sense now, but then your device is not working properly (the only second option would be that you don't perform this gestures properly which is much less likely). If you can't use the system control called slider in an accessible way like other VoiceOver users can, that is certainly a big problem that you should fix not because of Speech Central but because it is a widely used control and if it doesn't work many apps will become inaccessible for you though they are actually accessible. One more remark to this - I had a chat week or two ago with one local blind user who has self-discovered those gestures and used them. Ivan, Richard Turner has been posting helpful answers and advice on numerous lists for many years. He is not the problem here. Actually those features exist in Speech Central because one blind user was using them in Voice Dream Reader and he has specifically asked for them and I liked the idea. Everyone can check if this works even in Voice Dream - set a VoiceOver focus on Audio Settings app and swipe up and down and you will see that it changes the speed.Anyway I still thank you for your effort and I appreciate it from that point. On Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 8:08:21 PM UTC+2 Richard Turner wrote:You have no idea what you are talking about. So it isn't that hard like one user here pointed out.On Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 3:01:23 AM UTC+2 Richard Turner wrote:It is over the button labeled Audio Settings and it tells you the number of words per minute.Richard, USA.“What we think or what we know or what we believe is in the end of little consequence. Maybe this has been fixed in iOS 16.6 assuming you are using the iOS 16.6 public release. I think the current public beta is #3 so there will probably be a fourth public beta next week and maybe a 5th a week or two later before
iOS 16.6 will then be released for everybody sometime around mid or late July.

Hi List,

I’m attempting to delete some apps never used from the growing list on my iPhone 13 Mini running iOS 16.5. I keep the apps I use often on multiple home screens but the ones seldom used are only located in the App Library listing found after
the home screens. I like to place the App Library in an alphabetized listing in order to find the ones to delete as opposed to using Apple’s category listings. However, I am unable to enter Edit mode when using the alphabetize listing and can only invoke drag
requiring me to first drag the app to be removed to a home screen where I can then invoke Edit mode and delete it. This seems to be a major design flaw so I’m wondering if I’m missing a better way to delete an app located only in the App Library.

Many thanks if others can confirm what I’m experiencing and offer a quicker way to delete an app shown only in the App Library.

I am done with you and your app. I said, very clearly, that flicking up and down on the audio settings button in Voice Dream Reader changed the speed, and spoke the number of words per minute and could be done on the fly. However in speech central doing that same gesture on your speed button, did not do anything. I made damn sure the rotor was on adjust value. I'm glad some people find your app very useful. Just so you know, I taught VoiceOver for over 10 years to low-vision and blind users and people who know me, know I understand how to communicate those gestures. Richard, USA.“What we think or what we know or what we believe is in the end of little consequence. Re: Voice Dream Reader and Family sharing

2023-06-24 Thread Ivan Icin
Richard,

I am not completely sure what you meant by this statement.

Thus far I know certainly that you can't access some adjustable controls in
my app on main screen (play button gestures and speed button gestures).

As far as I understand your description, you can't access any such controls
on your device whether they are in my app or in another app?

That would make sense, as speed is alternatively set by sliders in
settings, which are also adjustable system provided controls, which would
explain on why you couldn't set the speed from the very start in any way.

Further your description sounds like that you can't perform this action in
Voice Dream either. That Audio settings button in Voice Dream is not meant
just for displaying the speed as you have quoted, but rather for adjusting
the speed by VoiceOver swipe up and down gestures.

As such your reflection makes more sense now, but then your device is not
working properly (the only second option would be that you don't perform
this gestures properly which is much less likely).

If you can't use the system control called slider in an accessible way like
other VoiceOver users can, that is certainly a big problem that you should
fix not because of Speech Central but because it is a widely used control
and if it doesn't work many apps will become inaccessible for you though
they are actually accessible.

One more remark to this - I had a chat week or two ago with one local blind
user who has self-discovered those gestures and used them. So it isn't that
hard like one user here pointed out.

Re: How do I delete an app from the App Library using Edit Mode?

2023-06-24 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I just checked, and under 16.5.1, after getting into editing mode, delete is one of the options. That may bea a recent update, in that I remember having to drag an app onto a home screen to delete it. Having to do that was many updates ago, I don't remember how long ago now, or maybe I just didn't know what I was doing. Arnold Schmidt Sent from  Arnold's  iPhone S E 3On Jun 24, 2023, at 1:03 PM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

Activate Freeform
Stop Editing Apps
Delete Freeform
Drag Freeform

Maybe this has been fixed in iOS 16.6 assuming you are using the iOS 16.6 public release. I think the current public beta is #3 so there will probably be a fourth public beta next week and maybe a 5th a week or two later before
iOS 16.6 will then be released for everybody sometime around mid or late July.

Subject: How do I delete an app from the App Library using Edit Mode?

Hi Sieghard, How did you locate the app to be deleted from within the App library? Did you first go to the alphabetized listing? It is when I'm in this listing that access to the edit mode controls are missing. Alan Sent from my iPhoneOn Jun 24, 2023, at 12:03 PM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:
