Re: Rhino(ceros)3D

2013-03-05 Thread gdorn
I understand that Rhino is quit a sofisticated 3D modelling application.
McNeal make a a number of associated applications- grasshopper, flamingo,
brazil (for rendering)

I've subscribed to the Rhino mac family - the free use of the application lasts
about 6 weeks, I've never had enough free time to venture into it to say if its
easy or not to use.
The full mac version is not available yet - its still in development hence the
free limited time versions.
The full win version costs $1000

the following has some useful guides

Thanks, Peter. I will follow up on these. I have no immediate direct interest
but certainly I have a potential possible use.
I will let you know if I get any further.

I can't claim to have any experience at all with this program, but it reminds
me of a project called "Stagestack", an attempt to recreate the venerable
vector illustration program Freehand, which was sacrificed on the altar of
Adobe. Stagestack has been in development for a number of years now, but I have
yet to see anything come of it. Rhino5 seems to be at about the same stage. I'd
be very interested if you find out more about it.

If you're interested in 3D modelling software the Mac platform is very rich in
them, but a few free options are Blender (high level and complex), Autodesk
Inventor Fusion (free from the App Store) and Daz3D Studio (specialises in
figure modelling).
