We did intend to replace it with something (e.g. icons on the buttons), but
didn't have time for the proper solution. I felt pretty strongly that the
current all-black, all-the-time button text was better than the button scheme,
which I think Brandon concurred with me on (though I'm not positive I checked
wiht him). Anyway, it's good we have an issue logged to make sure we do this
right. Assigning to Brandon for a quick mockup when he gets the chance.

[Bug 26261] New: Bundle ParserFunctions extension with MediaWiki

2010-12-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26261

   Summary: Bundle ParserFunctions extension with MediaWiki
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Normal
 Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: b...@mzmcbride.com
CC: tstarl...@wikimedia.org

Given that the new installer now has the option to enable extensions that are
located in $IP/extensions, the ParserFunctions extension should come bundled
with MediaWiki.

This bug is not about including ParserFunctions in core. It is about including
the ParserFunctions code in the extensions directory by default, which would
allow the installer to enable it if the user chooses to do so.

ParserFunctions has become nearly essential for a MediaWiki installation.
Requiring end users to install the extension separately is a completely
unnecessary hurdle.

In the mean time bug has been fixed, no matter is it about MediaWiki or

Being unable to reorder threads within the same level is impossible by design.
This is because, while reordering discussions makes sense, the idea is that,
within a particular discussion, comments are shown in more or less

[Bug 23825] Wikipedia logo not transparent in IE6

--- Comment #2 from Wade  2010-12-06 00:54:37 UTC ---
The file uploaded in June did not actually resolve the issue, it just maked it
less visible. The background color was modified to match the vector skin, but
it was not perfect. There is supposed to be a gradient at the top, but instead
the logo appeared in a grey box.

That being said, it would appear someone fixed the code, as I can no longer see
the grey box. The logo now works with all skins and even Wikipedia projects
where the PNG background was not modified appear fixed.

[Bug 26256] New: Accept and reject buttons are too similar

The new reject button that shows up for reviewers is too easy to confuse with
the accept button (especially when one is patrolling a lot of revisions in a
short time). There should be an obvious visual clue to tell them apart, like
green/red color.

Thats desired behaviour to stop IE3 from being stupid and trying to execute the
page as js. action=raw is only supposed to work if you access it through
index.php like
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Washington,_d.c.&action=raw (The
original poster have a different issue since they're accessing the pages
through index.php.)

Unfortunately, so important changes are never introduced as an emergency
measure. You may want to request a temporary AbuseFilter for that. As for now,
you have to gather wide consensus to implement this change on the site
configuration level.

[Bug 26234] CentralNotice moves content down when a link to a heading is followed

>The behaviour is quite random...

Not really, as far as i can tell, the behaviour happens because the central
notice is loaded by js independently of the page. So depending on the order of
thingies happening in your browser, it will get moved down if the central
notice loads after the rest of the page (or whenever fragment
identifiers/targets/whatever they're called get processed by the browser).
Since the central notice takes up room, so the rest of the page is moved down
to make room for it, which is noticeable if you're not at top of the page.

However the ekiga behaviour you describe is quite weird.

>...but bringing you to the top to make you read the banner does...

Lets not do that, beyond breaking links to specific sections, that'd just be
plain annoying.

I think adding another level of protection is a very big deal and would require
a thoroughly-discussed RfC, announced in all the right places like the admin

--- Comment #3 from Basket of Puppies

A bit of backround might be necessary for understanding why I am requesting
this- I am the victim of cyberstalking and harassment. There are at least two
long-term abusers who regularly post harassing, sexually inappropriate and
stalkerish messages on my user and talk pages. Those pages have been
indefinitely semi-protected, but these stalkers simply make new accounts and
overcome the very low threshold for autoconfirmaiton. Full protection would
disable editors-in-good-standing from communicating with me, which is not at
all my goal. Raising the threshold for editing on my user and talk pages would
help tremendously and likely prevent additional stalking. (Please be aware that
I have already gone to the police about this issue. They are investigating.)

inconsistency, hm? they still get edits e.g. for better documentation or link

wikimania2006wiki and wikimania2007wiki shouldn't be marked as fishbowls at all

Typically everything other than is display: none anyway. Do you have
some specific real-world use-case where you want to style something outside the
? If not, I don't see the point in paying the transition cost. Not only
will people use body.page-Main_page selectors that will no longer work, they'll
also probably do things like .page-Main_page { ... } expecting the rules to
apply to rather than . If there's no clear real-world
non-theoretical reason for it, I'd say WONTFIX.

This enhancement would be a new level of semi-protection that would be stricter
than the current level. This new level of semi-protection would restrict
editing to those with accounts 90 days old and with 100 edits. Currently,
semi-protection only requires a user be autoconfirmed. It's very easy to game
and get through, requiring only 10 edits and 4 days.

I thought this was already the case. But apparently not.

Could be added in core to filetypes that support it (ie. JPG, PNG, GIF etc.).

Perhaps a global variable array or hook for extensions to add other filetypes
to offer other sizes as wel (ie. TIFF, PDF).

I've reworded this bug as a request for when the funtionality itself is added

This variable is not used in core since r14809 and has been replaced by the job
queue.

Grepping in current code gives the following:

./docs/database.txt:$wgPostCommitUpdateList.
./extensions/WebDAV/deltav.php:$mediaWiki->doUpdates( $wgPostCommitUpdateList
);
./extensions/WebDAV/webdav.php:$mediaWiki->doUpdates( $wgPostCommitUpdateList
);
./includes/GlobalFunctions.php:global $wgPostCommitUpdateList,
$wgDeferredUpdateList;
./includes/GlobalFunctions.php:foreach ( $wgPostCommitUpdateList as $update
) {
./includes/GlobalFunctions.php:$wgPostCommitUpdateList = array();
./includes/Setup.php:$wgPostCommitUpdateList = array();
./index.php:$mediaWiki->doUpdates( $wgPostCommitUpdateList );

and in three comments that I do not mention here, one per call to
$mediaWiki->doUpdates() listed above.

So can we just kill it?

Crashing browser is FF (3.6).
Opera doesn't crash, either.

Just tested again, now FF didn't crash. So crashing browser was: FF.

Error is:

"result.threadaction is undefined.
var content = $j(result.threadaction.inlineeditform.html);
lqt.js line 227."

The combinations are ANDed. The tags themselves are mostly ORed (e.g. author is

People are not likely to refer to section id's in CSS. If they do, they can

Yes, this is pretty close.

Right now in my working copy there are five: timestamp, author, path, status
and tag.

I thought about implementing Bugzilla-like CC lists.

   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.16-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: blocker
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Images and files
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: manuel.schnei...@wikimedia.ch
CC: gpaum...@wikimedia.org, bryan.tongm...@gmail.com

Tried both, 1.16.0 tarball from mediawiki.org as well as SVN REL1_16.

PHP version: 5.2.12

from LocalSettings.php:
--- snip ---
$wgForeignFileRepos[]   = array(

Comment #5 is trivially fixed by ensuring we have no files with syntax errors.

We no longer have anyone in the whole trunk. There used to be one added on
purpose in NamespaceCompat.php but it was removed in r70693.

find \( -name \*.php -or -name \*.inc \) -exec php -l \{\} \; | grep -v "No
syntax errors detected"

Around the 2nd of December, all Palm Pre devices changed their User Agent
string to no longer have the term "Palm" or "Pre" anywhere in it. It is now

"Mozilla/5.0 (webOS/1.3; U; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.2 (KHTML, like Gecko)
Version/1.0 Safari/532.2 Desktop/1.0"

So... it claims to be desktop. And, our site responded with the desktop version
of the mobile site. Whoops!

Deploying the fix now!

[Bug 2074] PNG transparency fixes for IE users

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2074

--- Comment #22 from DieBuche  2010-12-05 14:56:38 UTC ---
Here's another script for handling this via a htc:
http://www.twinhelix.com/css/iepngfix/demo/

One thing that might prevent us from applying it to all pngs though:
"Due to an IE bug, if you are putting links within an element with a
transparent background, the element must not have a CSS relative/absolute
position. Otherwise the links will likely be un-clickable."

This particular problem was fixed by a reupload in June, see Bug 2074 for a

ie
These are all the shared queues, Tick some, add to "My Queues"...?
