When I'm following tours that tell me to click something, I'm unclear if I should do it now, or click the tour's [Okay]/[Next] button first and then do it. Maybe the tour step could interpose on clicks on the target, and hang around until the user actually does it, at which point it says "Thanks for following along" and fades away, before the normal result of clicking the target takes place. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52420 --- Comment #3 from Elitre --- I did not know this was a competition, so more from me as well! :p The "workaround" is what I mentioned earlier, but it won't always work. With it I managed to get "Lettere": it autocompleted to Letteratura, then I put the "e" after the first "r" and cut the rest. But, it did not work to get to "Lettera", which was my intended outcome. This also happens if I am interested in, say, "Letteratura tedesca": it won't appear in the drop down list, and I am not even allowed to write it. The only way to get there is writing "letteraturatedesca" instead, and adding the space later. This makes sense to VE! Example: If article A transcludes template T, and template T contains [[Category:C]], then article A is in category C. To Lucene, however, article A is not "incategory" C because article A doesn't contain an explicit category tag. So a Lucene query containing incategory:"C" will not find article A. Using this function should allow complete avoidance of using a range index match since we can now just specify all columns exactly. If we were to add an index on (img_media_type, img_mime_major, img_mime_minor, img_name) (forgive me if those column names aren't accurate), it should make an efficient query on this very much possible. Also, it would allow sorting in Special:MIMESearch as well, which would be helpful. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 52384] VE should implement categories like hotcat does it
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52384 --- Comment #1 from Andre Klapper --- (In reply to comment #0) > VE is too heavyweight, it even implements categories. this should be split > out, > and added differently to the wiki page, so a dedicated, easy to implement > category editor like hotcat is possible. I don't consider bug reports with "easy to implement"/"heavy-weight" buzzwords particularly helpful if you want to convince developers that there might actually be a real problem. Could you stick to technical aspects, also in your own interest, and elaborate a bit on why it "is possible"? Thanks! I'll leave it to the developers to explain the potential advantages to have category editing as part of VE. Or not. :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 47435] copyright notice can't be dismissed
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47435 --- Comment #18 from Daniel Werner --- The idea behind using the interface language was that we could display the message again as soon as it changes since the whole message string in that language was stored in the cookie. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4 --- Comment #8 from Bartosz Dziewoński --- (In reply to comment #7) > Out of curiosity, can you estimate how much time would be required to rewrite > this script in PHP? Ten hours? Fifty hours? A man-week or two seems reasonable, but I don't really know the extension well enough to judge this accurately. It also depends on how much rewriting you wanna do (one could try to get rid of the [[Ploticus]] program it uses). > And somewhat tangentially: would a rewritten script in PHP help resolve this > bug?
