What tweaks were needed? If these tweaks need squashed into the patch,
please respond to the thread on the libvirt mail list.

I assume they are just changes needed to get the patch to apply to libvirt
0.10.2.1 which is the version Fedora 18 has. The differences are in the
surrounding code, for example extra spaces and an if-else chain which was
a case statement in your patch.

Me neither, but I think I can give it a try (next week), do you have
pkgs? Should I build it myself?

I have done a scratch build of F18 libvirt with version 2 of the patch
(with the same minor tweaks) for Fedora 18 which is at
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=4747052 . It will also
build on Fedora 17 if you have (non-standard) xen 4.2 installed.

The final change deadline is currently 26th November. That may not be an
absolute deadline, but you have a better chance of the libvirt team accepting
changes before then.

Whenever the patches land upstream I'll be happy to pull them into F18. Even
if they don't show up for a few months we can always just push an F18 update
after GA. Of course, sooner would be better :)

I noticed today that a patch for libvirt to work with libxl from xen 4.2
has been sent to the libvir-list

Should be this: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/18/Schedule

So 2012-12-11... For now. :-)

So 1 month maybe, 2 probably not. What I'm not sure about is whether or
not that could also happen _after_ the release. IOW, would such an
update to libvirt hit the already released F18? Or will it become
rawhide an then F19 material?

Thanks and Regards.

Yes, libvirt has two drivers (packaged separately in Fedora), xend and
libxl. libvirt will still be able to use the xend driver in rawhide, but
the libxl driver is disabled (ie. not built) in libvirt. I expect it would
be easy to add back in once libvirt understands libxl 4.2 .

Just in case you're interested and have not seen that, as a consequence
of your previous message in this list, George and I started an
investigation about integration issues between Xen >=4.2 and libvirt.

[Fedora-xen] Xen 4.2 in rawhide

2012-10-25 Thread M A Young
Xen has been updated to version 4.2.0 in rawhide. To get this to work Cole
Robinson has disabled libxl support in libvirt because libvirt doesn't yet
support the 4.2 updates to libxl. There should still be time to get xen
4.2 into Fedora 18 if there aren't any problems in rawhide.
