Last week on the Wild Kingdom, I put together a CD-only set partaking
from from the new (to me) material I had lurking in the wings. The
playlist sits at http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=31915.
Tomorrow night, I'm making a quilt stitched together using old and new
CDs and 12" acquisitions, featuring old and new friends. Some of the old
stuff (and some is very old - almost 20 years) will lend the set a bit
of a loungey flavor. Bit players include Morgan Geist, Isolee, APE,
Global Communication. Orbital (a fine old remix), Jimi Tenor (in
disguise), Tycho, Echospace, The Bionaut, Gudrun Gut, L.S. Diezel, and
others.
More "Dutch Treats" are in the works. I'm planning as feature sampling
the work of Maarten Van Der Vleuten (check out his extensive and varied
discography at discogs.com). That one will take some more work, so I'll
probably spin a set of Dutch Acid in between. Old scenesters with
suggestions are invited to chime in.. There will be a lot of old Djax
and Unit Moebius tracks among others- give me a heads up regarding
other Dutch acid of historical import.
"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning,
12A-3A (7A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at www.kfjc.org (follow the links). Present and
past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived there. You can also check
out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just Desserts" that was
on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived playlists exist for
that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve 1999/2000, so you
can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much consistent with
what I was up to all along.
If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at pr...@kfjc.org to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.
Regards,
Richard Hester
