The primary function for CEMAC is to serve as the planning body of a festival celebrating electronic music and art from a Chicago perspective. Proceeds from this event will benefit CEMAC in its mission to bring our city the festival it deserves. ATOMLY - live [Atomiq, Wolf+Lamb labels] Over his last decade of production, Atomly's releases have to some extent reflected his surroundings: beginning with the IDM and breakcore of North Dakota and Minneapolis, past the house sounds that blended his years living in Chicago, through the minimalism and dubstep that emerged during his year in Berlin, to the techno jams he's creating in his current Brooklyn residence. Since he first launched Atomiq Records in 1999 with his seminal 'Laptop Rock' album, Atomly has released on Wolf + Lamb, Carpark, and Fear, among other labels. He has collaborated with a cabal of artists ranging from breakcore with Enduser to minimal house with Shaun Reeves and Seth Troxler. BRAD MINER - live (Illmeasures/Freakeasy!) A Sound Engineer and an integral part of the illmeasures DJ collective, Brad has been developing a sound that could be described as a versatile mix of original deep techno, house, ambient and downtempo beats over the past few years, incorporating his wide range of influences. With various releases out now and much more in the works, he is definitely one of the Chicago talents to watch out for. QUADRATIC - live (aka CHRIS WIDMAN + COLIN HARRIS OF ABSTRACT SCIENCE) [La Folia Recordings] Quadratic is a collaboration of seasoned DJ Chris Widman and developer Colin Harris of abstract science. The duo craft dancefloor oddities and headphone bangers that draw influence from Luke Vibert, Monolake, Orbital, Si Begg and Deadbeat, among many others. Best known as a DJ and host of the weekly radio show Abstract Science on WLUW 88.7fm, Widman has performed alongside a varied cast of underground luminaries—Amon Tobin, Cinematic Orchestra, M83, Monolake, Plaid, and the Orb, to name a few. A web application developer and agile programmer, Colin's active imagination is consumed by the rack-full of toys he has accumulated over the years. Their debut release on La Folia recordings, the rotten fruit ep, is available via halcyondigi.com, juno downloads, amazon.com and other fine online retailers. RADIUS - live [Plustapes, Moment Sound, The Secret Life of Sound, Consumers labels] RADIUS (aka Ramon Norwood) is a Chicago native who has used his well-trained ear to create some of the most interesting sample-based music in today’s underground hip-hop scene. Producing since 2001, Radius’ sound dwells somewhere between J.Dilla, Madlib and classic, early RZA & DJ Shadow, while containing hints of influences like Pete Rock, Premier, Dabrye, etc. He has released music with Mass Hysteria and labels like Consumers & TSLOS (The Secret Life Of Sound), as well as competing in some of the Chi-town’s most esteemed beat battles. He has become a rising star in the Chicago music scene having shared the stage with acts like Nappy Roots, Rhymefest, All Natural cru, Molemen cru, Primeridian, Earatik Statik, Kenny Keys, Murray the Magnificent, Eliot Lipp, Leo 123 and countless others. Career highlights include releases like Radiushead, a free, download-only collection of Radiohead remixes - another high being his 2008 album ‘Neighborhood Suicide,’ a stunning, instrumental hip-hop love-letter to his Chicago hometown. The ‘Neighborhood’ album has been hailed by fans and journalists city wide, with the Chicago Tribune calling it one of 2008’s top 10 local releases. Chicago’s Dusty Groove positively called the album “rawly soulful and universal!” Over the past couple months, Radius released an album for the Plustapes imprint, while future releases will see a recording for the Chicago-based Moment Sound label. Be sure to keep this hometown hero on your radar!
