Hello Chicago friends-

For this special date, the Meiotic & ApSerps promotion groups are
taking a break from our JACKSON monthly residency and putting a
spotlight on this very special Tuesday event - and for good reason!
Please join us for a rare stateside appearance by internationally
renowned techno artist ELLEN ALLIEN at Sonotheque. Hailing from
Berlin, Ellen has an arm-full of critically hailed full-length albums
to her credit, has done remixes for the likes of AUDION and BECK
(among many others), and is the founder of the highly regarded BPITCH
CONTROL label. Venuszine describes her work as “hypnotic and heavy”,
“fused with layers of ethereal harmonies and an underlying edge that
subtly hints at a sense of impending doom.”

Also on the bill…
LEO123 is back for another appearance under the Meiotic/ApSerps watch,
following his crowd-pleasing Live PA set opening for Four Tet back in
April. This time Leo will wow us with a special dancefloor DJ set.
Next, we are welcoming the Chicago Live PA debut from up-and-coming
Brooklyn-based electronica-hip hop-electro pop producer MUX MOOL who
was recently featured in URB Magazine’s NEXT 100 issue for 2009 and
getting comparisons to greats like Eliot Lipp, Daft Punk, Lindstrom,
Dabrye, Nosaj Thing, etc. And last but not least, we have our very
own Meiotic DJ ANDREW KEVINS opening the night with a set of tasteful,
booty-shakin’ tech-floor goodness. Please come out for what is bound
to be a killer night of great music.

ELLEN ALLIEN
[Bpitch Control Records - from BERLIN]
http://www.myspace.com/ellenallien
http://www.ellenallien.de
http://www.bpitchcontrol.de
Ellen Allien is quite the impressive entrepreneur. DJ. Producer.
Remixer. Record Label Boss. Fashion Designer. Booking Agency Owner.
Festival Organizer. Are we missing anything? We probably are. Yes,
she’s that busy. For an electronic music producer to wear so many
hats, taking on so much pressure, is quite rare in the music industry
- let alone a female producer. She does so with such style and grace
and we love her that much more for it. Ellen has been DJ-ing and
creating music for well over 10 years and her BPITCH CONTROL label is
now celebrating a 10-year milestone this year with a bevy of much
deserved anniversary parties around the globe. For those unaware,
Bpitch is the label home of acts like Moderat, Sascha Funke, Telefon
Tel Aviv, Paul Kalkbrenner, Thomas Muller, as well as Allien’s popular
collaboration with Apparat. Steadily and consistently, she keeps a
busy schedule of releasing music, touring with her infectious DJ
skills and keeps up with a seasonal fashion line - all of which seems
to work together to keep her buzzing with creativity & inspiration.

About her work, Ellen has described it as “sensual” and goes on to say
“I want to feed people new music and capture their interest. I want to
fill the room with sound. When I DJ, body and music become one.
Dance, space and lust for life overspill. I search for the fulfilling
dance. Body, belly and brain start to swing and uplift me/us. Music
is the drug - nothing else! A club unites people without words. It's
the music that speaks. The mix is everything. I push myself to the
absolute limit, sweating, and the thrill is that the room will become
our room.”

Hot on the heels of her featured stop at the 2009 Movement Festival in
Detroit, Allien will make a rare & more intimate stop in Chicago to
show us how its done. This will be only one of only two DJ
appearances for this summer tour run! Come check out this Berliner in
action as she stirs the crowd in an expected frenzy with a mix of
techno, electro and synth-pop bliss.

LEO123 - DJ set
[1/2 of DARK PARTY - Old Tacoma, Mush, Ghostly Swim labels - from Chicago]
http://www.myspace.com/leo123music
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Leo-123/12677098119
http://www.oldtacomarecords.com
Having recently moved from Los Angeles to Chicago, electronica/hip hop
beat producer Leo 123 has been hard at work perfecting his solo debut
album, which is due out soon. While in Los Angeles he was selected as
one of the artists in the influential URB Next 100 issue along side
artists like M.I.A., Tussle, Michna, Edan and Sa-Ra Creative Partners.
His past productoins, remixes and collaborations have been released by
a number of the prominent independent music labels in the scene such
as Ghostly International, Hefty, Gold Standard Labs, and recently,
Mush and Old Tacoma Records.

As Leo123 and Dark Party (w/ Eliot Lipp), he has been busy traveling
the country playing Live PA shows and DJ sets. In the last two years,
he has shared the stage with acts like Prefuse 73, Metro Area, Gaslamp
Killer, Nosaj Thing, Danger, Mochipet, Daedelus, DJ Mike Relm, Pretty
Lights, Bassnectar, Fax, and others.

Future plans include a Leo 123 full-length album for Mush Records, an
EP for Old Tacoma Records, remixes for Eliot Lipp (Mush) and Kampion
(Static Discos), production for No Can Do's debut record (Alpha Pup),
as well as the anticipated DARK PARTY full-length debut titled ‘Light
Years.’ The record was mixed by Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv
featuring contributions from Jimmy Edgar (Warp) and Jasia 10 (Old
Tacoma Records).

MUX MOOL - Live PA
[Moodgadget, Ghostly International labels - from Brooklyn]
http://www.myspace.com/muxmool
http://www.moodgadget.com
http://www.adultswim.com/music/ghostlyswim/
Minnesota native, now Brooklyn based, MUX MOOL is prepared to blow
fans away in 2009. After being on iTunes best of in 2006 with the song
"Lost and Found," he hit best of again in 2008 with Best Track "Death
9000 (Machinedrum remix)." That same year he was picked as Best New
Artist with the 7-song experiment titled "Drum EP" and had a song on
the iTunes Best Instrumental album pick, which was MOODGADGET's
"Synchronicity Suite" with the track "10.” MM’s song "Night Court"
was also featured on the collaboration compilation between Ghostly
International and Adult Swim called "Ghostly Swim" which also had an
animated BoyCatBird video and an Adult Swim bump. The compilation was
downloaded for free by thousands upon thousands of eager online music
fans. After a tour in October of 2008, Mux Mool settled back in
Brooklyn to finish two new releases - "Just Saying Is All" EP is out
now on Moodgadget, and a full-length LP entitled "SKULLTASTE" is due
out later in 2009 on Ghostly International.

Mux Mool’s eclectic & fun electronica/dance/hiphop sound has been
compared to great acts like Daft Punk, Dabrye, Lindstrom, Eliot Lipp,
Nosaj Thing, Free The Robots, etc. His Live PA is rather impressive
and will surely have the crowd rocking. He has gained many devoted
fans with his earlier releases and is finally breaking out with tour
dates throughout North America. He’s shared the stage with acts like
Matt & Kim, Nosaj Thing, Eliot Lipp, Leo123, etc. – not to mention
remix commissions for folks like Eliot Lipp, Deastro and New Villager.
More recently, he was bestowed with the envious feature as one of URB
Magazine’s NEXT 100 picks as an artist to watch!

With former full-time positions at Shure and Steinway, a current
representative for Roland, as well as a bachelor's degree in the Audio
Arts and Acoustics program at Columbia College concentrating in sound
design and production, these positions have allowed ANDREW KEVINS to
continue on in an intimate relationship with music and audio. Aside
from his current focus on mixes, remixes, re-edits, synthesis, and
MIDI-based performance, Andrew also maintains his passion for DJing.
Andrew makes a point to steer clear of genre pigeonholing and
saturation, but always likes to reference his electronic influential
roots of Chicago, Detroit, Berlin, Cologne, Manchester, and Chile in
his DJ sets and production work. He has opened for artists such as
Ellen Allien, Modeselektor, Michael Mayer, Matthew Dear, Jeff Samuel,
Solvent, and Skoozbot, among others.
