--Snap's "The Power" was an at-the-time uncredited rip of the rap from
Chill Rob G's "The Power"
over a prominent grab from Mantronix' "King Of The Beats".
--Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Shake, and other original Detroit
techno legends have kept recording
and not rested on their laurels. I respect that. Maybe Derrick May is
afraid of failure and thus hasn't recorded
since way back when because he is worried about falling on his face, and
thus goes the DJ route as an alternative
way to capitalize on his fame. Plus May did many of his biggest tracks
with collaborators whom he went on
to piss off (I know I'd be pretty pissed if I had collaborated with him
and my name got removed from the
credits on represses), so perhaps he is worried his fame derived from
working with others with whom he can no
longer work. IMO, he certainly isn't challenging himself the way
Atkins, Saunderson, Shakir, et al have.
