so a month back i said I would talk to jelinek regarding his process in
terms of analogue vs sampled vs live instruments
any how as it turns out
he no longer samples from other sources but rather records live
instruments into his powerbook and samples that material to build his sets
hes using an array of different tools mostly electric guitars, thumb piano
type of instruments etc etc... but his key tools are these assortment of
guitar peddles that he uses to process the sound going into his powerbook
and back out again.
so there you have it hes acctually working a lot of other producers using
live instruments that is then recorded and then sampled manipulated in
some manner.. it was surprizing to hear him say thing as it is basically
the same way I have always worked myself. Any how he slipped me a copy of
his forth comming new record on scape and its stellar!!! 99 percent
improvised music... more drone music then dance music these days...
