All this talk about Kompakt got me thinking.
I haven't bought that many recent Kompakt releases. So I did some digging
and pulled out some of what I consider my favorite Kompakt releases, most of
which are from 1999 - 2001:
M Mayer - 17&4
R. Voigt - Robson Ponte
Sascha Funke - drei auf drei
Clos
The other Mikkel Metal on Kompakt was meant to be this.
Too many 'K's going to my brain ...

I really dig some of the earlier stuff that has an
almost broken tech-house vibe. There's definitely some
similarities to Theo (eg Dusty Cabs, etc)- both
rhythmically, in the voicings and even in the ways
that tracks build "energy" in a really minimalistic
way.
See:
Michael Mayer - 17&4 (KOM 4)
jonas beringer's first full length is a sweet slice of dubby techno
all the detternger stuff both 12 inches and full length cds.
for me these are the ones that have been on my personal play list for
years... jonas beringers newest full length leaves little to be desired...

Agreed! There's a retrospective comp of Hiroshi Watanbe's productions
out on Klik at the moment.
Also have to praise Dettinger if we're talking Kompakt, not to
mention Donnacha Costello's stuff that they're handling...
