My first impressions...the entire ep is eminently danceable, with a predominant techno kick. Tracks exhibit the following flavors :
A
1. Burundi 2 (Chaircrusher)
Very rhythmic - if you will, a techno ripper salted with IDM sensibilities. What I mean by this is that the kick is unquestionably techno, but some of the rhythms and fxs overlaid remind the listener that Kent has been around. Remember when things didn't neatly divide into subgenres? Kent does. Make no mistake; this is a floor filling type track, but it has some nice phasing and electronic polyrhythms moving under, atop and through the looped Burundi chants which makes it somewhat friendly for a chin-scratch or two as well.
2. Bump Mapping (Chaircrusher)
If the above is "very rhythmic", this is very VERY rhythmic. Imagine a ~stark~, banging techno loop crossed with electro. Now take out the classic electro basslines and the melodies, but leave in the little Kraftwerkian 'sequenced kisses' and other mad-scientist-in-the-basement pops and whirrs touched up by some doubling/echoes which pile up...keep it slamming and you get the picture.

B
1. Burundi 2 (Sean Deason remix)
NICE retake. The IDM-ish elements drop out and are replaced with some lush chords and distinct Detroit "smooth side" touches. The chants are reduced to a thin loop, but the track doesn't suffer from it. I like where this goes a lot. Sean is definitely underrated; this reminds me somewhat of what I heard on "Allegory & Metaphor". Yum.
2. Rock This (Hydrogenbox)
Wow. My first remark reeks of ageism (*this* from a 19 year old?!), but then I'm reminded that I'm an old fart and TONS of great stuff blooms from de youts. Jeff Harris proves what Kent has been saying for a while - there's a thriving scene out amidst the cornstalks of Iowa. This sounds like it could have come from the more driving side of Detroit.
