well, yes, but since most dirt will be lipid based (greasy fingers and all)
this would mean you'd have to pour oil on your records. Not good.
Basically vinyl is PVC (poly-chloro-ethane), it's incredibly stable as long

Warm slightly soapy water. But I find the whole thing quite tedious. So
maybe try the record cleaning service from smalfish:
http:www.smallfish.co.uk
Quite expensive I seem to remember though ...

On a slightly related subject. I have a few nice records that are badly
warped. I have heard 2 myths on how to unwarp them in the past. One was to
shrink wrap them and the other to place them in between 2 sheets of glass
and leave them in the sun for a specified time.
Has anyone tried these method
maybe you can tell us, what is fairy liquid made for? laundry, toilet, ...?

hi there
managed to track down a copy of the classic Throbbing Gristle LP, was
thinking about transferring it to cd, so obviously I would like to get the
best possible copy, does anyone know which solvents clean vinyl up the
best, and which solvents to avoid (would rather not melt the vinyl!).
