moment:movement ep by blaktroniks (moving 01)

side a:

"on a trip"- slow, minimal downtempo beat with male and female vocalists
trading off on spoken verses, freestyled around some "let me take you on a
journey deep into your mind" flava, some nice effects on the vocals, trippy
vibe

"still scared"- update of last poets' "niggaz are scared of revolution"
piece from the 70s, more spare downtempo beats with the MC speaking about
distractions in the way of revolution, with some deep, dubby chords on the
top- I'd like to hear more of this challenging kind of verse/rap in DJ sets
(so this ep is going to one of my hip hop dj friends who would play it out
in an urban basement party environment)

side b:

"fais mois fremir"- slow r&b-flavoured song with some nice sax, classier
than what's on the radio, female vocals with full lyrics, made for downtime
with your significant other

"solar winds"- light dreamy, synthy track of broken beats, slow jazzy
instrumental melody, would mix well with 4Hero's chilled out material

truth and desire ep by blaktroniks (moving 02)

side a:

"fais mois fremir" domu rmx- superb broken beat remix of the song from the
above moment:movement ep, the vibe here is still uplifting but also moving
and moody, with Chi Chi Monique's sexy vocals in english and french, and
those sensual horns, for a smooth sensual vibe- this one deserves a lot of
exposure far and wide!

"dreamtime"- spoken reflections about the surreal nature of reality over
slow broken beats and moody keys, one to take the chillout room to a deeper
level

side b:

"raindrops" mike grant rmx- real early morning deep house, on the moodier
side with the soulful female vocal sample "raindrops fall in my eyes to
baptize this fire", a tasty introspective groover

"serenade"- mellow number with jazzy keys, sparse percussion but with quirky
syncopation, would mix well with some of carl craig's downtempo atmospheric
stuff

tell them not me ep by prymer (gutbucket 01)

side a:

seiji rmx- '96-styled chopped-up techstep, not too dark however, good
driving music

prymer original- exquisitely chopped-up techstep, some of the better
technical drum n' bass I've heard in quite a while, darker than the rest,
would definitely add excitement to a set

side b:

prymer 99 rework- jazzier version on the lighter side of techstep, the
action is in the 70s bass, good mix of atmospheric and chopped-up elements

redagain p rmx- retro and very funky electro, only a snippet of
metallic-sounding, vocoded vocals, with videogame sounds, lots of variety,
an impressive change of pace from the current crop of electro
