Not really that useful for your needs, John, but check out Kerri Chandler's
"Hallelujah" on King Street from years back. The flip features a very epic,
dubby (and too fast) Roy Davis Jr mix but the original mix is absolutely
stunning. For single handedly providing the skippitty snares, compressed to
f**k kick drum and deep bassline blueprint later picked up by UK garage DJs:

There's the old tale that he taught himself to mix at age 9 on his dad's
decks when pa wasn't around. One day his dad caught him and threatened him
with severe parental punishment unless he could pull off a decent mix.
Needless to say, he managed it.
