I've had similar experiences with house music DJs both big and small. One of the only guys I've heard put deepness into a house set was Josh Wink. My experience is that, generally in the US, people feel that the real deep stuff is for late night sets from 4 to 6am for smaller crowds and sofa liste

Plastic City is from Germany, and has a division in New York. Pagan is based in London, and is affiliated with Terry Francis. As deep goes, though, its not particularly deep when you consider the deep house/ garage scene, here in NYC. Wave Records, Spiritual Life, Ibidan Records, Nightgrooves, etc.
