Keep the laptop you have, it's fine for music. Get into a pcmcia audio interface of some kind (Hammerfall, Digigram, Echo, etc...) and a usb midi interface. you need to install your OS without ACPI, and then do some backround services optimizations for audio I would recommend XP as your OS of choise for audio. www.musicxp.net has some good tweak info and I can help you beyond that if you have questions. Im able to get 4ms latency at 96khz/24bit on m
