[Alsa-user] alsa stopping problem

Hi, i am using alsa which came with Mandrake Linux 8.2 [ I think 0.5.x version ]. Now when i type, /etc/init.d/alsa stop it takes a long time to stop alsa? Say about 4-5 minutes. Any idea why?? It is getting irratating to wait for 6 mins. to reboot the PC. Please tell me what to do. -Shant _
