First: Some people told me, the via8233 has no midi-synth. Is this true? This would
mean, the windows drivers for this chip are doing software-synthesis. Can ALSA do
this? (Yes, I know, timidity can.)

The solution was simple: update to ALSA 0.9.6. Special thanks go to Anders
Torger - he told that there was a bug in the 0.9.4! If I just had waited
one month and started with version 0.9.6 ... I would spend only a minute to
get ADAT capture working compared to these couple of weeks.

has setup my /etc/modules.conf file and tried to do modprobe snd-awe, insmod
returns an error that /lib/modules/2.4.20-19.9/kernel/sound/snd-awe.o file
