Here's what I want to do. I'm beginning to thing it isn't possible.
I am working with a single card with two stereo outputs, type cs46xx (Turtle

cheap monitor-mounted speakers and the "rear" speakers going to a nice amp

Hi!
I am using the newest mplayer pre-release and I want to capture video
from my TV card.
Therefore I use this line:
mencoder -tv driver=v4l:width=320:height=240 tv:// -ovc xvid
-xvidencopts bitrate=900:max_bframes=2 -oac mp3lame -lameopts

I'm in the process of trying to get ALSA up and running on an RH9 machine.
I haven't had much luck so far. The module won't load and complains about
symbols not being there, which is strange since I built it against the
kernel that's running on the machine. Before I expend anymore effort into

The command "alsactl store" saves mixer settings into
/etc/asound.state, "alsactl restore" restores them.

Greetings all;
Kernel is 2.6.1-mm4, on what was once a redhat8.0 system.

I think this has been asked before, but I just built kde-3.2-rc.
I note that audacity, while now apparently working thru the aRTS setup

I have no doubt that Mantis is a good system and I might even concede that
it is superior to Bugzilla. But I prefer to reuse the Bugzilla system at
kernel.org for these reasons:
1. Nobody has yet volunteered to setup and maintain Mantis or Bugzilla for
ALSA purposes.
2. ALSA is closely related wi
Hi All! Does anyone know how to make line in work? I have got a
fortissimo II sound card with sound fusion cs 4624 chip and I found I
cannot listen to sound with my MD connected in the line in even booting
with kernel 2.6 that has alsa built directly in the kernel. Any idea?
Thanks so much,

I can't stand bugzilla or sourceforge bugtracker.
I searched a long time for a good bugtracker, tried many different ones
before I decided on mantis: http://mantisbt.sourceforge.net/

In response to the recent discussions on alsa-user (regarding "complaints"
about the state of ALSA) I would like to make two suggestions:
1. Decide which bugtracking system should be used.
Currently there is one for ALSA at Sourceforge (see

Hello
Please forgive me my simple questions but I'm new with ALSA API and I
would like to understand it.
The first question is: what is a main idea of snd_pcm_hw_params_any
function?
What does "configuration space" mean in addition to
snd_pcm_hw_params_t structure?
int snd_pcm_hw_params_any(snd_
Hi,
I have an ECS L7VTA2 motherboard with integrated sound
and I can't use it with ALSA properly. First of all,
in the mixer, the PCM is only a switch, so it can be
only on or off; the master can be changed but it does
not have any effect. I read the documentations but I
have not found the solution
