I need my default input device to be hw:0,1
and my default output device to be hw:0,0.
Is this possible?

Hi,
I am trying to unable to configure my sound card on debian. The sound
system that I have is Terratec SiXPack 5.1+. There is no sound on my system
and on running alsamixer I see the following ouput:
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device

I am having trouble getting sound out of a Audigy SE (CA0106) on a Dell
Precision T7400. The sound card works fine on another Dell model. I have
tried both RHEL 5.3 and Ubuntu 8.10 with the same results. The only
difference seems to be the motherboard.

A few years ago I got an terratec phase 26 usb card. I need a second usb
sound card for a second computer and hear that there are better devices
available. Some of those suggested as 'better' alternatives are the
M-box mini and E-MU 0202 USB. Google makes me doubt that those are
supported by alsa /
