Dear Vince,
I don't think that aplay can handle a .flac file directly ? Try
transforming to wav first.

I am trying to make a usb DAC work onto my debian wheezy. The DAC is the
ARCAM rpac. the DAC is TI5102. It's got an Xmos chip.
