I've been trying to write up some code to use the snd_pcm_file_open
functions and I've been struggling to get them to work.
Could someone please provide a basic example of how to go about using
this plugin?
I'm trying to write an application that can receive all sound from the
default pcm vi
I am not claiming I know what I am doing.

I am having some issues getting audio timestamps when opening a device
through dmix. When I open the hardware directly, e.g. "hw:0,0", I get all
the timestamps and delay frames. However, when I open through dmix, e..g
