alsa-plugins includes a resampling plugin using libsamplerate, which
implements a number of resampling algorithms.

I can adjust and mute/unmute them
independently, but if i close and reopen alsamixer, they will both
match the state of whichever I adjusted last.

I have a Gateway NX860XL, and can not get sound to work under linux
with ALSA 1.0.12 on kernel 2.6.17.11. The snd-hda-intel module is
loaded with the model=ref option. Removing the model option does not
