I've run into the same thing with Gentoo, but even (possibly) a bit more difficult. Gentoo upgraded Alsa in this kernel to 1.0.0rc2 and now the Alsa.org patches don't work at all. I wish the Gentoo emerge for Alsa was smart enough to handle placing the newest releases in the right place for 2.6 ke
