Erwin,
You should not use "insmod" because this means you will
have to load al modeules by hand and in the correct order.
To do this use the "modeprob" command.

I have successfully done this on Mandrake 8.1 and it seems like you
have left out a step.
To ensure that all symbols are correct (I take it your kernel uses symb. ver.)
you need to have the correct System.map file.
Small note on Mandrake: it seems that on bootup the symlink from System.
asheets. I cannot seem to get these from
Opti's site.
I have placed additional data at the end of this (already veruy long) e-mail
in case this is also needed.
