Where is alsa-kernel/usb/usbmixer_maps.c? I have kernel sources and
all alsa-related files installed with my SuSe 8.1 distribution, but
can't find this file.

FYI:
I have been playing around with different mixer programs and the found that
the text-based alsamixer *can* control the output level of the MP3+
using the "speaker 1" control. "Speaker" doesn't do anything, nor
does "PCM" or "PCM 1", and there is no "master" or "line in" control.

The problem is that, yes, the controls are there, yes, you can get a mixer control
panel, but it doesn't actually do anything. The output level is always "full", mixer
setting makes no difference. Is there something else that needs configuration?

It is recognised as a USB sound card OK - running SuSe Linux 8.1 -
