Gary,
Thanx for the input!
I already have $max_servers set at 5...and I have ensured that Postfix &
Amavisd are matching (causes chaos when they don't match!)
Also, I am definitely using Net::Server 0.90 - already been through the
chaos, too, of 0.91 & 0.92...so we should be good there as well..
'Grep'-ing the log shows nothing related to the keywords you listed -
that, I find, is unexpected...it seems to me that I would see some of
those at least, giving an indication of something that's not right...but
no go...
We are still getting the errors...and it seems that we get one typically

Gary,
The time spent scanning is highly variable - anywhere from 300ms through, in
some cases, 20+ seconds...which I've always thought was high...but have never
really paid attention until now that I'm seeing something going on...
I did raise the log level to 3 to see if anything was strange -
Greetings,
I am seeing the following in our mail logs:
...
lost connection with localhost[127.0.0.1] while sending end of data -- message
may be sent more than once

Looks like Amavisd is closing the connection on Postfix, but I don't know why.
I have verified our settings in all of AMAVIS
Guys,
Thanx for the comments...
I think the light is starting to dimly glow above my head! However, if
I add these IP hosts to $mynetworks, wouldn't I then need to create some
type of access map that explicitly denies any sender addresses from the
domains we protect. In other words:

Gary,
Thank you for the information. However, let me provide a little more
info to clarify our situation:
We protect roughly 25 domains with postfix/amavis/spamassassin. All of
these domains need to be able to talk to one another. Although we are
using this system for incoming mail only, we, ob
I need to create a rule that evaluates both the To: & From: addresses
(domains) in an e-mail. I want to mark/tag/block/whatever e-mails that
have the same originating & destination domains (i.e. the sender is
spoofing the recipient domain). I have played around with some meta

We have a Postfix(2.1.5)/Amavis-new(20030616)/SpamAssassin(3.0.2) setup
on RH9. Our setup works very well with one exception:
We get this (or something like it) in the maillog on a regular basis:
