My mistake - I thought $400,000 in loans had to be paid back but I guess if
we raise money to pay them off fast the money the City of Asbury Park would
have paid could have been reallocated to other important things.
I personally agree with all those good ideas. Just make sure that you

Just plain wrong...the reason the people do not come to meetings is
because the old council either choose not to listen or not capable of thinking
out side the box.

Try soliciting money specifically to be used to put computers in the police
cars, then use extra money to help teenagers to get working papers and mentors
for first jobs. Leave the water park alone, its a done deal. Should install
cameras to keep the place safe from vandals.

Does any of the politicians or active community members on this Yahoo group

None of the above. The spray park is already in operation. It was paid

Don't be locked to the varied dictionary definitions of Gadfly (some
postive some negative).
When it comes to municipal watchdogging, GADFLY is absolutely the
highest honor you can receive (Socrates was the first).

Nancy's not the first guilty party in using Gadfly to dismiss a critic. How's this for déjà vu; The Homes News used the term repeatedly in quoting administration critic, Dave Harris, during the redevelopment of New Brunswick. Harris was a community activist, ran a home for unwed mothers

Perhaps the definition of "gadfly" should be noun 1. person who asks questions of elected officials as though they were accountable. 2. person who asks questions the media ask in other towns, but can't or won't in said example for fear of being alienated or isolated by public officials. 3. _e
