If a bar can charge $10 with food or $12 w.out food as a "cover" for under 2
hours of music,
why is it a sin for a city to charge .50 an hour to park. On top of the cover
of course are
drinks.food etc...
So what if the city charged i the downtown for parking - at least AFTER 5 pm on

Well, an unmoderated group is definitely easier on me!
That being said, there are thousands of active and successful moderated
groups at Yahoo and other providers, and I'm not persuaded that they
are by default any less valuable, helpful or informative than
unmoderated ones.
Nevertheless, I'
The only things that's really been off-topic here have been some political

honestly, that's to be expected when we are right around the corner from an

the biggest news in our country at the moment.
I created an un-moderated political group just for that reason last ye
Thanks. In reality, things are going to go off topic every once in a
while. And it will last for a day or two before returning to where
we should be focused. But I think the learning here is that is far
preferable than having a moderated group.

It was just a fluke that I saw it. I usually ignore all the glossy ads on
the way to locating the table of contents. But the Wonder Bar double spread
couldn't be ignored.
I'm a fan of AMC's Mad Men series about Madison Avenue's 1960's ad men, so I
tried to deconstruct what the ad agency is
I'd asked for cooperation in ending a series of off-topic posts and
that request was greeted by another dozen or so off-topic posts.
However, a sufficient time seems to have gone by and all posts in
recent days have been on topic. I'm going to switch back to unmoderated
status shortly and hope
I think we board members deserve an explanation about why moderation is taking
place.
If this board is going to be moderated, i'll give up my membership, and bet
others will
follow...

Hi Pete,
This is only my humble opinion, but I am a member of other moderated
Yahoo groups. Possibly not everyone requires moderation and I know
that moderation can be selective. If you feel that moderation is
necessary, you may (or may not) think about selective moderation.
Just a thought,

Case in point about the moderation delay. This was written at 3:02

Well, that's 19 minutes too long for starters. But what about the
other 4-5 messages that got posted at the same time as mine? Did they
all happen to get written at the same time, or were they waiting for
hours to get approved.
This used to be a discussion group, where people could exchange
It took 19 minutes for me to approve it after it was sent to Yahoo.

Seriously, has not one person posted anything today or is this what
things are going to be like in a moderated world, where it takes hours
for posts to get put up. If that's the case I guess I'm out of here,
too. And that would really be too bad.
Of course if this goes right up atleast I'll k
the moderation isn't working. obviously. maybe someone needs to
