Boy, did I clear the room of incumbents!
To be fair, Kate Mellina said a few words on air and when I sneaked
up behind Jim Bruno and clapped the headphones on him, he did speak
to Maureen back in the studio. John Hamilton spoke, of course, as
did many challengers.

But you've got to admit the plan to deinstitutionize was a disaster.
I've lived among the deinstitutionized in two towns: NYC & Ocean
Grove. In NYC, the mentally ill hated the overcrowded, crime-ridden
shelters and so took to the streets, growing more sick, dirty and
threatening by the day
Regarding the Nancy Shields article, did anyone notice the Fish's
comments about Asbury being a "close-knit community," and more
ominously: "Bohemian - for now."
Bye-bye, Bo-hos!

Pam: Thanks so much for elaborating on your position on historic
preservation. It would be fabulous if we had someone who really
understood the history of AP on the council. Good luck!

Werner, I didn't know about this application for demolition. It
certainly makes my previous post seem naive - at best.
Can you give us any more information on it?

Dan: Maureen & I started the petition drive (and postcard blitz) to
save the Arthur Pryor Bandshell. Although the council says it will
not
destroy the bandshell, as far as I know, that has never been written
in
stone - or on paper. So we must be vigilant.

Hi, Cathryn! Welcome to the group.
Werner Baumgarnter is the historian of asbury park. If you want to
talk to him, he is very easy to reach. (Hint: check the phone book!)
While it does not cover every issue in Asbury, Restore Radio (88.1fm,

Werner has raised - as always - some very interesting issues in his
recent posting. I think it is a little more important to pay
attention to his comments than to some poor guy who is trying to sell
his house in AP!
Come on, people! Respond to him!

According to AsburyPark.net, Kate Mellina has filed a nominating
petition for City Council, several months after stepping down from
the Council.
Only in Asbury Park, kids.

I agree wholeheartedly with you that voting in Asbury Park is NOT the
primary issue. When I owned a home in Ocean Grove, I overlooked the
southern portion of Asbury for nine years and loved and lamented
it. In all that time, I voted in Manhattan - not the Grove, not
Asbury. But, like many
My God, this group can talk about "naive and stupid guys" when
referring to the murderous gang of 9/11 but get their knickers in a
twist regarding a casual remark about whores. Do we have a priorities
problem, or what?

The Coaster covers Asbury Park, Neptune & Ocean Grove. You can get
it at Wegman's out on 35 or in the newspaper/candy store in Ocean
Grove or at Frank's Deli in AP. It comes out on Thursdays. I'm sure
it can be found in many other places, but these are the places where
I pick it up. Welco
This is not directed at you, Jim, but I would like to say: can we
get a new subject title besides "Nineteen really stupid and naive..."
blah..blah..blah. I find this subject title SO VERY offensive.

Interesting article,Gerry, thanks for posting it. And thanks for
coming on Restore last night. You and Rita were great, as always.

Thanks so much for taking care of this. His posting should be pulled
by the moderator asap.
Just a suggestion to the List: can you not copy this vicious post on
to other postings? It spreads the slime around a little further...
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Happy New Year. Maire
