At the risk of getting lambasted, I'd like to get some thoughts on
something my wife and I are struggling with...

We own a home in AP and generally spent every weekend there with our
kids since we bought it - until we were "exiled" to Atlanta about a
year ago when I took a new job. Well, it appears that my exile is
just about over and we'll be returning to the area. We've always
dreamed about living full-time in Asbury Park, but honestly thought it
would be several more years when AP redevelopment would have be beyond
it's early stages. We've been away for what seems like an eternity
and I really don't have a good sense for where things stand.

Our kids are almost 5 and almost 3. I know there was great debate
over Fishman's statement several months ago regarding families moving
to AP. Philosophy and posturing aside - I'd really appreciate some
advice on this. Is it a good place for our kids on a full-time basis
right now? How safe is AP for my wife and kids when I'm traveling?
Will they be comfortable walking the groceries from the car to the
house on those dark winter nights when I'm not home? Are lots of
other families moving in or staying away due to the schools, etc...
Is this commutable to NYC?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As you can see, we're really
challenged with this one and have little real perspective.
