JUNE 9: ASBURY PARTNERS AND CITY OF ASBURY PARK TO HOST GRAND OPENING
OF CASINO WALKWAY LINKING ASBURY PARK AND OCEAN GROVE

Asbury Partners, LLC and the City of Asbury Park will celebrate the
official opening of the Boardwalk Casino Walkway at noon on Thursday,
June 9.
The public is invited to attend this event, marking the first time in
15 years that visitors can enjoy an uninterrupted expanse of open and
renovated boardwalk from Ocean Grove to Asbury Park.
The Grand Opening ceremony will begin at noon, as local City
officials from Asbury Park and Ocean Grove join Asbury Partners on
the south side of the Walkway for the ribbon-cutting. Popular
entertainer Bob Leive will be on
hand with his three-piece band beginning at 11 a.m. to lead visitors
through
the renovated Walkway to the Asbury Park side, where guests can also
take
advantage of Grand Opening sales among Asbury Park's boardwalk
retailers to
be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The Casino Walkway, located at the southern end of the
boardwalk, was
spruced-up, repainted and reinforced by Asbury Partners, developers
of
the
56-acre Oceanfront Asbury redevelopment project. The Walkway connects
the
landmark Carousel building, which is being renovated and preserved,
and
the
Casino, which will be rebuilt as part of the Oceanfront Asbury
redevelopment. One wall of the walkway has been decorated with
enlarged
historic postcard photos, pictures of Asbury Park past. The opposite
wall
provides visitors with a picture of Asbury Park future, with photos
and
sketches marking the progress of the Oceanfront Asbury redevelopment.
The Walkway unofficially opened Memorial Day weekend, and
boardwalk
retailers in Asbury Park have noted a significant increase in
boardwalk
traffic.
"For more than a decade, people from Ocean Grove walked the
boardwalk
up to
Asbury Park but were unable to continue," said Uri Kahanow of Asbury
Partners. "Now they can stroll or jog through. The boardwalk was
packed
during the holiday weekend and has continued to have a noticeable
increase
in visitors coming to relax on the sparkling clean lifeguarded
beaches,
attend the festivals, enjoy the new boardwalk and its vendors, and to
satisfy their curiosity about the new residential development. This
is
