Subj: Weather Update - February 13th

RAIN DEVELOPING AROUND SUNSET CHANGING TO SNOW TONIGHT...2 TO 4 INCHES
ACROSS CENTRAL AND INTERIOR SOUTHERN NJ
WEEKEND STORM WILL DEVELOP WELL OFFSHORE...JUST SOME FLURRIES AND COLD
TEMPS POSSIBLE ON SUNDAY

SYSTEM BRINGING RAIN NEXT TUESDAY SETS UP PATTERN FOR POTENTIAL WINTER
STORM ON 2/22

TUESDAY - FEBRUARY 13TH

A storm moving off the mid-Atlantic coast tonight will bring rain to the
area around sunset today. The rain will change to snow early this evening
across most areas, with the exception of extreme southern NJ. Snow will
end between 1am and 2am. Temperatures will only be marginally cold enough
for frozen precipitation so the snow will be wet.

Snow accumulations will be 2 to 4 inches for much of central and southern
NJ from Burlington and northern Ocean County up to I-78.

North of I-78 including NYC metro - 1 to 3 inches

Coastal sections of southern Ocean County, Atlantic and Cape Many Counties
- 1 inch or less

Still watching for a narrow band of snow that may develop across the
central part of the state that could bring some isolated 4 to 6 inch amounts.

Check back later this afternoon and this evening for nowcasts as based on
surface observations and radar.

With temperatures on Thursday afternoon rising into the 40s with sunshine,
this will be a low impact snow event as whatever snow falls will be
melting fairly rapidly.

This weekend, a deep trough will be developing over the eastern half of
the U.S. but for now the trough looks a bit too progressive so a developing
coastal storm will remain far enough offshore to avoid any impact on our
area. It will be cold and blustery on Sunday

Looking further ahead, computer guidance has been very persistent with the
idea that a strong storm cutting through the Great Lakes and bringing
rain to the area on Tuesday will set the stage for a winter storm around 2/22.
