Has anybody else noticed this disturbing trend...a kid riding their bike, usually on the wrong side of the road, texting away? What about with their helmet hanging from their handlebars? I've been seeing more and more of this lately, mostly in Spring Lake, Manasquan and Deal. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Doesn't NJ have helmet laws for kids? And, shouldn't there be a law prohibiting kids from texting or using cell phones while cycling? Of course, if we had those laws, I doubt we'd see much enforcement. I often wonder that if I had kids, would I allow them to even have a cell phone before the age of 18. People from my generation did quite well without being constantly connected. Kids today grip their cell phones like it's a drug. I wonder what effect that is going to have on them when they grow up?
