I am with you, some people are just bad. Others are drawn into
things they know are wrong by circumstance while still others are
forced to go there to survive. That said, I think the "just bad" are
the far minority of those making up our gang problem. Not that the
rest aren't bad - many are

I agree with your post here Scott, particularly on your analysis of
other possible causes.
One caveat though - I think the thread started with me pointing out
there are "No Bloods in Howell" so I really was on the sub-set issue
of violent crimes being in impoverished neighborhoods. You can't

Part of the problem in Asbury is that it's been a drug and

I can remember back about 30 years when Asbury was known as the place
to come score pot. Emory street to be exact.
And even back then, there were prostitutes wandering around.
Over the years, the dru

You are correct, you did not bring up the rich/poor community overtly.
However, when you look to compare crime rates in AP vs the other towns
in Monmouth County by definition that is often the comparison you are
making.
No Scott, I didn't bring up the words "rich" or "poor" in any of
this. I believe when the discussion started (maybe I'm wrong) that
on virues and values, we were concentrating on the sub-set of
violent crime.
Mario brought up the concept of correlation. Now that's a scientific

Are you saying that the "rich" towns are full of virtue (or "have a
monopoly on virtues" which is what you responded to below) because
their crime rates are low
Come on now. That's the most unfair and unrealistic comparison I've
seen in a long time if you think that you can compare crime r

No, I wouldn't be hard pressed at all.
Just go to the Asbury Park Press website and look at that crime stats

It looks like they were correctly identifying the members of the three
branches of government 74% of the time...
74 percent of Americans knew the Three Stooges, Larry, Curly and Moe,
by name; only 42 percent could name the three branches of our
government.
