Thanks for posting some data, Sean. This obviously is not the whole
story, but it would indicate there is likely no difference between the
switcher and the linear supply.
I think I see the biggest problem with the switcher in the experimental
setup. It says "Made in China" on it. If it said "Mad
Another thing to consider is the effect of the switching power supply on
the other components in the stereo system. I'm using a linear supply
and find it to be a nice upgrade. One interesting experiment I did was
to run the Squeezebox off of the linear supply and experiment with also

Hey guys,
Guess what? I patched with the latest slimserver version 6.2.2 and big
improvement. The improvement was so noticeable, even my wife noticed
it. Now I'm starting to hear some life in my missions again. I think
this patch should be applied when rolling out this product because it

Been rummaging around the audiofile thread to see if any HW upgrades
make any sense. Not that I am unhappy with the SB. I think it is a
tremendous value. And I find it remarkable to see this $250 box sitting
on top of these $25k stacks of audiofile equipment. Maybe it is that

Is it correct that the firmware does not even change between 6.2.1 and

I mean if the player firmware doesn't even change, then what change in
the Slimserver server code do you think is making this big improvement
in sound for you???

AFAIK all I said was that if his ring DAC is an async reclocking what
is the point? You said some drift between clocks might increase digital

do you have a voltmeter? Try measuring AC voltage across the one off

to reset, then press "3" on the Slim Devices screen). If you get about

Hi Ceejay,
The output from the analog is very poor to the degree that I think
there is a problem. If I was to turn off my digital amp, then the
analog sound which is going through Cyrus 5 amp through Cable talk talk
cables into Mission speakers, would not even be to any mid range
standard at all.

Is it preserved going WAV>FLAC>SB? I can only assume so.

Hi there,
I just purchased the new SB3 and although I am impressed with the
Digital output, the analog output sound is very dull and weak in
comparison. I am running the analog signal to a Cyrus 5 Integrated amp.
Is there something I can do to improve the analog output
signal\quality?
