the official line from Slimdevices is always something along the lines
of: "do we not comment on future product releases"
Personally i think an Audiophile version is doubtful, too small a
market really. Perhaps if SD were bigger then it may be possible, but
they have only ever had a one product a
Here is what I found out so far.
FLAC with external cue, works, only problem is in the database, the
flac and cue appeared twice.
FLAC with embeded cue, does not work. I probably didn't get it right. I
tried both, tag or metadata, both will not work.
APE with external cue, seems to be working b
And being CNET it's expected, but tragic, that WPA vs WEP is so played
down. They'll never say "if you insist on using WEP, anyone can break
into your network in less than a minute."
Despite it being true.

is sonically inferior. Their review is understandable being CNet and
not stereophile!

Audiophile? In a big Audiophile forum it was already said by some guys
it isn´t possible cause wireless and even ethernet near a HiFi is
killing sound and so on! I can´t imagine the squeezebox developers want
to fool with a dowser in the projection room :)

Sorry. Maybe I was confusing the internal DAC going from 16 to 24 bit
when the volume is less than full output. O
I think if you want the SB to sound "as good as" or "better than" the
506 you will need a DAC...and a good one too!
Although as I recall the 506 is quite "soft" (ie not like a Naim, say)
in its presentation...but I rather liked it. The MF DAC might work for
you - there are some similarities in gen

Huh? No, it doesn't affect the sample rate - it's just a multiplier
function. We don't do any resampling except for 32KHz tracks, which are
upsampled to 48KHz.
