After almost two years with my SB3, I'm not convinced that an SB4 could
really offer much substantial improvement. Sure, the power supply could
be made linear, or the DAC stage could be upgraded, but most people who
care about such things will inevitably, if not invariably, purchase an

That's I wanted to hear. Now it's clear to me. Thank you very much!

Someday I'll probably buy a PS Audio DLIII or Benchmark DAC or
something along those lines.

Hello to all of you!
I'm newbie and I have a question regarding ASIO drivers and
Squeezebox.
I'm familiar with the fact that Squeezebox dont' need these drivers
since it receiving from Slimserver data files and not audio files and
because of this there is no D/D windows-kernel conversion like it
No, it's not possible. This has been discussed a lot since the
Transporter came out. Enhancment requests have been filed.

And that's pretty much where it stands.

As the title suggests is it possible to have the knob on the front of
transporter act primarily as a volume knob until the browse or one of
the other buttons are pressed. Currently if you just turn the knob it
will scroll through the menu. To change the volume you need to press
the volume button t

Hi guys.
My Transporter has exactly the same problem i.e. if I switch to digital
XLR input I get the loud pop. Then if I try to go back to network I get
no sound at all until a reboot. The pause trick works but makes it
clumsy and difficult to automate with a remote control.
I tried the old firmwa

Why not? Jitter causes sidebands on ASRC DACs.

That's because the tests are not designed to show the effects of jitter
on a ASRC DAC.

Very interesting, indeed.
I wonder if the Tascam US-122L USB audio interface suffers from the
same resampling problem. It is more of a mid-range product, but who
knows if/how it resamples (it supports 44.1, 48 & 96KHz sample rates) .
Is there anyway to detect if there are resampling artifacts in

It seems that this issue might be beginning to get out of control. To
my knowledge, at least two bugs have been filed about problems when
switching digital inputs:
Bug #4580 (which I filed on 10th Dec 2006) is relatively

I too am waiting for this to be solved for months now.
In case you didn't see my workaround it goes like this:
when you are listening to the networked music it has to be playing for
digital input to be properly activated. If you hear mumbling then just
switch to another digital in and back to th
Didn't know that the second line out can be controlled through the
headphone volume. If this is also the case for the MKV, are there any
contraindications against using this as a sort of line level control?

No, after finding 24 being not entirely stable as well, I switched back

a recent nightly build)
I might try reverting to 6.5.1 with fw 24 all together, and see if the
