Presently using SB3/DAC1/Arcam/Dynaudio speakers. Dynaudios are very
natural sounding. Listen to some Dyn's, the bigger the better, you
might be surprised. Have fun.

Everyone has there own favorite speaker (s). My favorite right now is
the Dynaudio S3.4. The most natural sound I have ever heard. You just
have to find yours.

They are most certainly the real deal! With the big L-707 you have the
ability to order them with a 600 watt monoblock built into the stand! I
have heard a 5 channel system of them and it remains one of the most
moving musical experiences of my life. I still believe I should have
ordered the littl

A little update... Well, I started this thread & I'm happy to report
that I decided to go with SB3 running through Cambridge Audio 840C. I
was too lazy to build a noiseless PC... that project is still on hold.
I still like the idea of having a standalone CDP with my audiophile

Sean,
Exact same thing for me. Built-in firmware works perfectly. After
logging into SqueezeCenter, lots of noise and pops.

Sean,
I'm playing a cd right now using the firmware - that works!
I have the rca spdif input selected and no problem.
I did the xilinx reprogram on start up also. When I scrolled left to
the firmware, it was fine. I then powered off and tried the digital
input from the software? menu and the s

something already stated here

Bill,
I also have the identical issue as you with firmware 40 and
Squeezecenter 7.01. I have my Oppo DVD player hooked up and connected
via Coax. Sometimes it works, but if i touch the volume or switch to
another input or anything on the Transporter, I just get pops and

This is a professional solution
I can't see that it's mentioned in the thread, I believe the Alesis

Should go well with the Transporter...
As hinted earlier in this thread ripping LPs is a tedious task. Apart
from the analog equipment which should be prestine it is worth
mentioning that most of the real "time" goes in cleaning up and
processing the resulting audio files. A couple of year back I did a
little research of the (free) sof
Hi Phil,
What are you comparing?
1. Are you using the set up I've seen elswhere described on this
forum: where the Hammerfell is set up to replace the SD3's DAC?
Or
2. Are you saying that playing softsqueeze via the Hammerfall alone is
better than the SB3? Is that through ASIO? If the latter

You do have the "DVD digital out" set to "PCM" (not AC-3) AND the
"Downmix" set to "normal" (not surround) don't you?
It's easy to not set both of these...
Also are you using Toslink or coax - there are known issues with this
particular player where the two connectors behave differently (even

Yes, I checked the input - rca spdif. Confirmed.
When I first tried the digital out, I had the Sony DVP set to

I've used all of the cards mentioned in this thread quite extensively
and they are all good - very good in fact.
The one that is missing is the RME Hammerfall which is my personal fave
- albeit overkill for stereo playback!
The Echo devices are great as is the Lynx.
It is certainly possible to bui

Hi Sean,
If you mean select the digital input and press play with the remote
directly on the Transporter, that's how I

I pushed play after I selected the digital input on the Transporter -

Also see if you can do it from the built-in firmware menu (i.e. not
connected to a server). Press and hold left arrow to go out to the

This might seem obvious, but did you press play? Even when you swtich

me a few minutes to figure that out.

I have been looking into pro DACs. My concerns are with a whole house
system, but if you are thinking of Lynx cards you might want to
consider the EMU 1616m (external) or the 1212m (internal).
