Since the Transporter is much greater than the Squeezebox, you could
call it the Symphony package. :-)

Hi,
I think the 1050 is hard to beat for that money. Your room should not
be too small, as the speakers do some serious bottom end if you compare
it with your Diamonds.
The MS is a bit lighter on the lower end (no surprise with one woofer
only) and a bit brighter. Not wrong, but differnt compar
I can't wait for mine! I currently use my Transporter with the display
turned off so the Controller couldn't have come @ a better time.

I just got mine yesterday and although I had handled one at CES and

Alls well that ends well. After some further PCI card juggling I finally
got the 2496 to work.
In case it is any use to anyone else, the trick was to reboot at least
once after every change. I used Device Manager to "uninstall" all the
PCI cards one at a time. Reboot. Reboot again. Go onto n
Ok I'll give Inguz a go - my experiments with it on the home server
(mucking around with room correction) are that it is wildly
inefficient...the cpu goes bananas when it is on and it effects
streaming video (which the server is also used for).
Worst that can happen is I need to uninstall it I gu

Are you referring to "DVD-Audio Explorer" or "DVD-A Explorer" (two
different programs)?

I know you are UK based. I am pretty sure that there are European
sellers on Audiogon and I know that US sellers (not all) will ship to
Europe.

Not quite, I have a SB3. The transport I'm referring to is the CD
transport. From my experience, the sound I'm getting with the CD
transport and DAC is different than using

I thought windows had the option of a "nice" level these days. The EQ
only option for the plugin should use a lot less CPU time than the full
room correction mode.

I would look at Audiogon. Your money will go much farther.

Inguz definitely uses more processing power with my room correction
filters on than with just the eq. So you might find that with only eq
it's fine.

It is often said that the switch mode PS will affect other components
(although I have no personal experience, having a TP).
Might be worth having another go, but unplugging the stock PS when
listening to the alternative.

I've never installed the Inguz plugin, so can't comment on how
lightweight it is, but from the web page it would appear to be what you
require, with the ADDED option of room correction. In other words, if
you don't want room correction, it still seems to offer a nice, 2, 3, 5
or 9 band equalizer.
I'd really like to avoid extra hardware if possible.
At the moment it's an Sb3 into AudioEngines and it's a very neat little
solution but I feel it could be tweaked to be better...or at least more
how I like it.

Having established that you preferred the SB3 with the Elpac, you should
then have swapped the power supplies on the two SB3 and redone the
comparison. It strikes me as entirely plausible that sample variation
between the SB3s could be at least as large as any difference due to
the power supplies.

Plus the fact that The Ripper's phono preamp is for MM cartridges (the
input impedance of 47k is dead givaway), so would be of no
