I will check that the SB3 and Behringer are both clocked at 44.1 and
retest. Both spdif and toslink show a locked signal on the Behringer. I
then run the internal upsampler to 88.2. Does slimserver have switches
for the sb3 output to be set at 44.1 or is it the default?

@Pat - thanks. I'm not discouraged. :) I agree that I don't really know
what my DAC is doing - other than that sine waves and square waves look
nice!
The problem is I don't have a "control" DAC to compare with...
When you say we need 24-bit... the soundcard I'm using to record is
running at 24/96
I have been using the Lyngdorf DPA-1 for less than 2 months and I am
very, very, very happy with it, I am using it as my main DAC as I liked
it better than the transporter and its ADC stage is impressive, my vinyl
sounds as it should (24/192), would totally recommend it! and of course
has many inp
Not all blind testing is ABX. And not all ABX uses short snippets.
Every listening method has problems. Some people are laughably lax when
it comes to their sighted listening methodology and then turn suddenly
into forensic lawyers when discussing blind methodology. AKA Cognitive
Dissonance.

It does make me laugh when people blithely accept ABX blind testing as

If you mean intellectually deaf I quite agree :-)
IMO people are being intellectually dishonest with themselves if they
refuse to do a blind test.
Did you compare the dacs blind ?

It is! I talked to the guy who headed up the AES working group on that.
Of course, this was after they printed it in the JAES. I explained to
him all the problems that I saw with it. I could sense his feeling was
"Gee, why didn't we get someone like this guy to help us out. I had no

I hope that you don't think that I am trying to discourage you. As I

this, and many of us feel until we get 24-bit resolution, it is not a
great deal of help. Even if it does, we still get back to the same ol'
problem we h

It can be surprising how "differences" vanish when the listening is
done deaf :)

I suspect in a DBT you would be unable to identify a difference in any
of those products, let alone assign a SQ judgement.
It can be surprising how "differences"

Magik is not better
Akurate is different, not better.
Klimax is better.
