Last I've read, most of the squeezebox devices output levels have been
lower than the average CD player. Many people have commented about how
they have to turn up the volume for their squeezeboxes compared to th
The design of the Squeezecenter system is that "players"
(transporter/squeezebox/boom) are completely independent from
"controllers" (duet controller/squeezeplay). You can have any
combination of players and controllers and everything will work.

The display on the Transporter itself can not display album art.
But the Duet display will show it nicely. I use it all the time.

I have some questions. I am going to use the Transporter as my source
and pre.
I see that you can get the Duet-remote to work with it, but will you
get the album art on the Duet-remotes' display through the Transporter?

Looking over the specs for the Denon I see it supports "Pure Direct
Stereo" mode.
I would suggest using "Pure Direct Stereo" and the transporter's
regular non-balanced RCA outputs with some good coax cables.
These are highly recommended. Simple, no fluff, not too expensive.

Of the recordings you list, at least the two Murray Perahia cds, the
Pink Floyd cd and the Steely Dan Gaucho are 20 - 30 year old
recordings mastered on analogue tape. They are most certainly neither
hi-res 24/96 or DSD recordings, so how you can draw any conclusions

I've ordered a Transporter for my primary listening room and wanted some
advice on the best way to connect it to my home a/v system. My receiver
is a Denon 4306 so it doesn't differentiate between balanced or
unbalanced inputs. It also doesn't have XLR connections. Ordinarily, I
connect my compo

I'm not sure how Blackstone's post was relevant to the thread. dCS has
a fully functioning 'Contact Us' facility on their website so rather
than make assumptions about dCS just use it.
If you had no response to a query from dCS or worse an incoheherent
response then go ahead and post away
Well this test is strange ? it's mostly SACD which is roughly 20bit in
rez and actually worse than cd in the treble, ultrasonic noise anyone

The few DVD-A that was used is of analog mtrl no reason to expect
anything there either ( even if audiophile die-hards nurture the myth

What I hear in hi-res PCM compared to redbook audio are:
more dynamic transients
longer and smoother decays
more dynamics and definition in bass notes
an overall smoother and less-fatiguing presentation

What do you mean?
For the record, six digital sources were used: a Pioneer DV-563A

I've only seen two types of TOSLINK connectors:
- "proper" ones with a D-shaped connector.

door out of the way and press in pretty tight, not quite "clicking" in
place but almost. If not, you have a defective receptacle.

Is it me, or is the SBR's analogue output level very high?
According to the specs, it's 4.8Vpp, which I make to be about 1.7Vrms.
My aging pre-amp's spare input's sensitivity is 300mV, and I thought
that was fairly standard (or even high, the tuner input is 100mV).
So why is the SBR so high? Do

My Transporter TOSLINK input receptacle is extremely loose. I tried
connecting a PS3 to it but it becomes so loose that it keeps falling
off. I tried 2 cables, one from Van Den Hul and the other from Apple.
Is there a way to chance the receptacles inside the Transporter?
Secondly, am I missing

I am not sure that your statement is true: The Transporter also
displays VU meters when it is connected to SqueezeNetwork...
